Our History

Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS), Lucknow, was established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in 2006. It was named after the renowned freedom fighter and social reformer, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia. The institute was conceived as a Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) to address the growing need for advanced super-speciality healthcare and high-quality medical education in the state. Over the years, RMLIMS has grown into a 750-bed tertiary care hospital and a premier medical college, recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

RMLIMS is a prestigious institute recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) for its MBBS and various MD/MS and super-speciality DM/MCh programs. The institute is an integral part of the healthcare infrastructure of Uttar Pradesh and receives referrals from across Northern India. Our hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art technology including advanced imaging (3T MRI, 128-Slice CT), modular operation theatres, and fully automated laboratories adhering to NABL standards. We are committed to obtaining NABH accreditation in the near future.

Governance & Leadership

The institute is governed by a distinguished Board of Governors comprising eminent medical professionals, academicians, and administrators. The day-to-day administration is led by the Director, a senior medical professional of national repute. The Medical Superintendent oversees hospital operations, while the Dean looks after academic affairs. Campus & Infrastructure

Situated on a sprawling 50-acre campus in the heart of Lucknow, RMLIMS boasts a modern, well-planned infrastructure. The main hospital building is a 12-storey tower housing out-patient departments (OPDs), in-patient wards, intensive care units (ICUs), and operation theatres. Separate academic blocks house lecture halls, skill labs, and a central library with thousands of medical texts and online journals. Residential complexes for students, faculty, and staff create a vibrant campus community. The campus also features a auditorium, sports facilities, and lush green spaces promoting a holistic environment.

Visiting Hours & Guidelines

OPD Timings: Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM (Except public holidays). Registration closes at 3:00 PM.
Patient Visiting Hours: 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Only two visitors per patient allowed.
ICU Visiting: As per specific ICU guidelines, usually for 10 minutes at designated times.
Parking: Ample paid parking available for visitors and patients.
Wheelchairs & Stretchers: Available at all entrances free of charge.
